  • Nassau-Exumas, Bahamas - Beginning of one week internship to the Exumas and the Exumas Park

WE have an exciting schedule for 2008 from whale watching in the Dominican Republic, to diving in the Bahamas, or just cruising on the Med. You can join us for a week or two or as little as four days or more.

We have several trips to the Exuma cays in the Bahamas in from December to February and we will also have two other internships in April 2008. Within The Exuma Cays is a protected 176 square mile sanctuary or park, on land and sea, which is probably one of the most fascinating areas of The Bahamas. We will cross over the Yellow Banks to Allans Cay, Exuma from Nassau. There we will see the population of wild iguanas who greet visitors right on the beach. In the Exuma Land and Sea Park, we will explore the mangrove creeks of Shroud Cay and dive on a few of the protected reefs. We will go on nature trails and every evening, the group will gather around the campfire to talk and share the days events.

The cost is $775 for a one week expedition. Otherwise its $125 a day. The price is all inclusive except of course the plane ticket.. So if you are interested, we would need more information on you-- please e-mail a short biography with possibly a photo to info@islandexpedition.com.

You should indicate your objectives for joining us and your interests. We will send you an application form, the trip description and a contract agreement.

In the Winter we will be returning to the Turks and Caicos and Dominican Republic to observe the healthy population of humpback whales. The whales migrate from the northern Atlantic to the warmer waters of the Caribbean every winter to mate and give birth.

From May to October, we will be conducting expeditions on the Mediterranean sea . Group travel is recommended, so if you would like to organize a group of eight persons, we can offer a trip on the Mediterranean or the Caribbean at different dates depending on the boat and captain availability.

Please understand that Island Expedition is NOT a cruise ship or luxury charter sailing cruise. The main focus is research and education and participants will be exposed to both the beauty and hardship of the sea.
